Asia’s premier adventure sports and travel expo opened in the capital on Friday at the popular Midvalley Megamall.
The three-day Adventure Show Asia 2009 features among others, a wide spectrum of adventure activities in Malaysia to draw more tourists to the country.
“There is still a lot more potential within this industry to attract more foreign tourists to come and take part in these adventure sports and expeditions”, said tourism deputy secretary-general Datuk Ab Ghaffar A Tambi who opened the expo.
He also said the goverment was offering support to event organisers who bid for international projects which could attract foreigners and exhibitors to Malaysia.
Farouk Nurish, director of Able Two Events Sdn Bhd, the main organiser of the expo, said: “Malaysia has a lot to offer in terms of adventure sports tourism, we have a variety of natural terrain that is ideal for many types of such sports and activities.”
