Following the success of the 2009 tour, U2 have confirmed that their acclaimed 360 degrees Tour will continue in 2010. According to the official Web site, the legendary rock band will be on stage at the Istanbul Atatürk Stadium on Sept. 6, 2010.

European fans, who missed out in 2009, will have a new opportunity to experience the U2 360° Tour extravaganza with stops confirmed in Turkey as well as in Germany, Denmark, Finland, Russia, Austria, Greece, France, Belgium, Spain and Portugal. Having just introduced the U2 Mobile Album, “No Line On The Horizon,” the band’s 12th studio album, the 2010 tour will once again be sponsored by BlackBerry.

As part of the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture events, the U2 Istanbul concert will be organized by LiveNation in collaboration with the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, or İKSV, and Pozitif.

Willie Willaims, who has been working as production director for U2, has worked with architect Mark Fisher on this show.

The tour features a 360-degree configuration, with the stage being placed closer to the center of the stadium’s field than usual. The stage has no defined front or back and is surrounded on all sides by the audience. The stage design also includes a cylindrical video screen and will increase the venues’ capacities by about 15 to 20 percent. Only tiered football stadiums can be used for this scheme; flat fields and baseball stadiums are impossible venues.

Tickets for the event, which will be Turkey’s largest stadium concert, will be on sale on the Biletix Web site in the coming days.
