Ireland has experienced the steepest fall in hotel prices of all major European countries this year, according to a survey by the hotels.com website.
The survey found that prices in Ireland fell by 26% in the first six months of 2009, making Irish hotels the cheapest in western Europe.
Within Ireland, hotels in Galway are the most expensive, while Limerick hotels are the cheapest.
Hotels.com says the falling prices are linked to a fall-off in business travellers due to the recession.
