Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay was decorated Monday with an honorary doctorate degree by the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts.
University’s rector Ramazan Abdulatipov presented Gunay the honorary degree in a ceremony held in Moscow.
Earlier, Gunay delivered a speech at the Russian Foreign Foreign Ministry Diplomacy Academy.
He said in 2011 nearly 3.5 million Russians visited Turkey, adding that the figure was only 650 thousand a decade ago.
“I believe that the most important aspect of tourism is the contributions it makes to peace. Tourism brings different cultures together. Tourism will be the founding sector of peace in the 21st century,” he said.
