The Sao Paulo fest’s industry gatherings this year feature a lineup of Swedish filmmakers, producers and government reps as well as roundtable of Brazilian producers with reps of international distribs and sales agents.
Those are just two of the industry highlights at the fest.
Sweden will send a delegation that includes six helmers, five producers, two sales agents and two officials of the Swedish Film Institute. The group will meet with Brazilian filmmakers and authorities in several forums Oct. 28 at the Renaissance Hotel. The Swedish Film Institute’s feature film commissioner, Lars Lindstrom, will also talk about the Swedish incentive and co-production systems.
According to fest co-general director Renata de Almeida, Swedish producers Erika Wasserman (Fasad Prod.), Oskar Soderlund (GotaFilm), Johan Mardell (Pampas Prod.), Sandra Harms (Breidablick Prod.) and Mani Maserrat-Agah (Jens Jonsson) will be looking for local co-production partners and locations for new projects.
On Oct. 29, Brazilian producers will present new projects to international sales companies such as Elle Driver, CinemaVault, Films Distribution, Rezo, UMedia and IM Global. Brazil’s government-sponsored Cinema do Brasil co-organizes the business roundtable.
“Our business roundtables have produced concrete results, such as Esmir Filho’s ‘The Famous and the Dead’ that premiered this year in Locarno. Dezenove’s Sara Silveira, the film’s producer, and UMedia, the film’s international sales agent, started to negotiate at our meeting two years ago,” Almeida notes.
