Air France A380 Dubai flight just a test

Bas GerressenAir France has clarified its strategy for the A380 on the Paris-Dubai route.

The airline has said there will be a test flight of the super jumbo from Paris to Dubai in around six weeks time, which will then fly onto South Africa, but there are no definite plans this route daily from the winter season onwards as suggested in the media.

“The first Air France A380 flight will be to New York and I would say that Johannesburg is in the planning,” Air France-KLM commercial director for the Gulf, Iran and Pakistan, Bas Gerressen told hoteliermiddleeast.com

“Dubai is for a test period, but it’s not 100% confirmed. However, I’m sure if it does well we would look to have it on this route permanently.

Gerressen also stressed that if a daily A380 flight were to replace the 12 flights weekly currently operated by Air France Boeing 777 and A330 aircraft, this would equate to greater capacity (around 538 seats daily).
