But the seven-day incidence in the country remains high. What vacationers need to know now.

The number of people infected with Covid-19 in the Netherlands is at a high level, even if the numbers have fallen in recent days. The seven-day incidence is currently 1845.4 (as of March 23). For comparison: On March 16, the value was still 2498.9.

On March 23, the last corona protection measures in the Netherlands were abolished. However, there is one exception. An overview of the situation.

What are the rules for entering the Netherlands?

So far, the 3G rule has applied to German holidaymakers traveling to the Netherlands. Now anyone from Germany can enter the neighboring country without proof of vaccination or a test. However, the Dutch government recommends that holidaymakers test themselves immediately after entering the country and five days later.

Only air travelers are still required to fill out an entry form. In addition, a mask must still be worn on airplanes.

Anyone entering the Netherlands from outside the Schengen zone still needs to be either vaccinated, tested or recovered.

What should be considered when returning to Germany?

Since March 3, 2022, people aged twelve and over must be able to show proof of vaccination, convalescence or a test when entering Germany. Anyone who is not fully vaccinated or has recovered must have a negative corona test (PCR test or antigen test no more than 48 hours old). However, the Netherlands (like all other countries) is not currently classified as a high-risk area.

What should I do if I have corona symptoms or have had contact with infected people?

Those who have tested positive no longer have to go into quarantine in the Netherlands. In this case, the government recommends staying at home, but it is no longer mandatory for those infected. In case of typical symptoms of Covid-19 or contact with infected people, it is possible to contact the Dutch Health Service GGD on telephone number +318001202. Whether you go into quarantine is neither tracked nor checked.

What rules have applied in everyday life in the Netherlands so far?

A large number of the corona rules in the Netherlands were already lifted on February 25th. However, masks were still compulsory on public transport and at the airport. In addition, access to indoor events with more than 500 participants was only possible with a negative test result.

Now it is no longer necessary to wear a mask anywhere in the Netherlands, and it is also possible to visit major events without prior testing. The same has been true for places such as restaurants, nightclubs and museums since the end of February.

Hotels, holiday parks and campsites are also open as normal. Travelers should be asked in advance whether distance and hygiene rules will continue to be implemented there.

Is the shopping center Roermond open?

Yes, the shopping center in Roermond is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Where can I find the official corona figures for the Netherlands?

The most important official figures are listed in the Dutch government’s so-called coronavirus dashboard.
