Royal Caribbean is building a new largest cruise ship in the world

Only at the beginning of the year did the "Wonder of the Seas" replace the "Symphony of the Seas" as the largest cruise ship in the world.

Royal Caribbean is building a new largest cruise ship in the world

Both ships belong to the “Oasis class”, the largest ship class in the world of the shipping company Royal Caribbean.

But now, just five weeks after the official maiden voyage of the “Wonder of the Seas”, Royal Caribbean is already announcing the next largest cruise ship in the world.

It took almost three years to build the newest largest cruise ship in the world. The “Wonder of the Seas” was built at the French shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique for the shipping company Royal Caribbean. The ocean giant has not even been cruising the seas for a month and a half when Royal Caribbean is already announcing the next giant. The “Icon of the Seas” of the new “Icon class” will hold even more passengers than the ships of the current “Oasis class”. A gigantic project, almost 7000 vacationers and 2300 crew members fit on the “Wonder of the Seas”. What is known so far about the future largest cruise ship in the world:

The new “Icon” class

“This isn’t just another ship. This is an extraordinary new class of adventure,” is how Royal Caribbean describes the “Icon of the Seas”. According to Travel Weekly, Royal Caribbean’s sales director Sean Treacy revealed that it will be the new largest ship in the world. “Launched next fall, she will be the first new class of ships for Royal in a decade,” Tracey said at a press conference.

The “Icon of the Seas” is currently being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. Royal Caribbean has not yet commented in more detail on the new fleet or the new class. It therefore remains to be seen how many passengers the new largest cruise ship in the world will hold or where it will cruise.
