A 72-year-old tourist from Bistrita Nasaud county was rescued by helicopter after he had fallen into an abyss in the Fagaras Mountains in Transylvania.
The Romanian spent Sunday night in the open air at an altitude of 1,800 metres with severe injuries to his head and legs. The weather was good.
Some other tourists remained in the area to be near him until a mountain-rescue helicopter arrived.
The man was taken to a hospital in Brasov.
