Ryanair has extended its one million ‘Yes to Europe’ free seat sale until midnight Friday (from midnight Thursday) after its website crashed when millions of passengers tried to secure free seats which were launched on Wednesday.

Ryanair’s seats urged Irish passengers to vote ‘Yes to Europe’ on 2nd October and offered free travel on over 500 great European routes in October and November. Ryanair.com went down for 30 minutes and experienced slow response times during the day due to extremely high demand and heavy booking volumes. Ryanair has now added even more capacity to its website to cater to the unprecedented demand for free flights.

Ryanair’s ‘Yes to Europe’ free seats include all taxes and charges so passengers who chose to avoid discretionary fees by paying with Visa Electron, travel with carry on luggage only and forego priority boarding can fly for this absolutely free fare.

Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said;

“Ryanair.com was overwhelmed yesterday after we launched 1 Million ‘Yes to Europe’ Free seats which millions of consumers tried to snap up straight away. As the site was down for a period and experienced slow response times we have extended our free seat sale from midnight Thursday to midnight Friday. We hope that this will ensure that those who were unable to secure free seats yesterday can now bag a bargain on ryanair.com.
