The Venezuelan capital stages today the meeting between the presidents of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, and the president of this country, Nicolas Maduro, in an initiative aimed at strengthening integration.

According to Prensa Latina’s news, the visitor’s agenda includes a working session with Maduro, and the beginning of the binational cabinet of ministers, to continue a program begun under the management of Commander Hugo Chavez, who died March 5.

It is expected that representatives from both nations exchange on strategic issues related to politics, social, energy, security and defense.

After the 9th presidential meeting, held in June 2011, both countries signed 14 cooperation agreements in housing, science and technology, food, oil, and economy.

The Venezuelan sales to the Ecuadorian market focus on common metals and tools, vehicles and parts, chemical and pharmaceutical products, fuels, plastics, and rubber.

In turn, this nation purchases food, vehicles and parts, electrical machinery and appliances, textiles and clothing, plastics, and rubber, among other items.

In addition to the commercial and political component of the day, the presence of Correa coincides with the week of tribute to Chavez, on occasion of his 59th birthday.
