Renowned Turkish diver Sahika Ercumen’s first diving in Antarctica

An internationally renowned Turkish diver Sahika Ercumen among members of a Turkish team departed for Antarctica to set up a temporary national base for scientific research.

Sahika Ercumen dives under water within 3rd National Antarctic Science Expedition with the organization of Istanbul Technical University Polar Research Center (ITU PolReC) in King George Island (South Shetland Islands) of Antarctica.

Turkey holds an observer status and it desires to have consultative status on the continent during the 3rd National Antarctic Science Expedition.

Team will stay on a ship and carry out scientific studies for 30 days.
