Asian airlines began to resume service to Europe Wednesday as flight-safety officials there began to open skies closed for days due to ash from an Icelandic volcano.
Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. said it will resume services to all its European destinations on Wednesday as airports in the continent reopen. The Hong Kong-based carrier said it has scheduled four flights to London, and one each to Frankfurt, Paris and Amsterdam on Wednesday and early Thursday.
Its first flight to depart will be to Paris, leaving Hong Kong at about midday local time. Airline said that Cathay Pacific’s flights to Rome and Milan will also be operating Wednesday.
However, the airline has cancelled four flights to London, Frankfurt and Amsterdam scheduled for Wednesday and early Thursday. It said those flights will resume normal services later Thursday.
The airline said it will give priority for its Europe-bound flights to students returning to the U.K. to take public exams as well as unaccompanied minors under the age of 12.
