Tourist robbed inside Ritz hotel in Puerto Rico

Ritz hotel in Puerto RicoPolice in Puerto Rico are investigating the robbery of a New York tourist inside his room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Police say robbers bound Robert J. Anello with lamp cords and a tie before dawn Monday morning. They took $800 in cash from a safe and threatened Anello until he gave up the password for a debit card that was also stolen along with a credit card.

Ricardo Haddock is a police sergeant in Carolina, east of San Juan, where the hotel is located. He says six people have been arrested in connection with the robbery at one of the Caribbean island’s top luxury hotels. No further details were available.

Police say the 54-year-old tourist declined medical attention.

The hotel did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
