Spirit Airlines and its striking pilots are scheduled to meet with mediators, a potential break in the walkout that began Saturday.
Pilots took to the picket lines in a dispute over pay.
Sean Creed, the head of the pilot union, said the National Mediation Board has asked both sides to meet in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
However, union officials said the strike would continue until they approve any deal.
Spirit said it wouldn’t fly until Thursday at the earliest.
The strike stranded thousands of passengers including Dale Velevski, a Macedonian exchange student whose flight from Atlantic City International Airport to Michigan had been canceled Monday.
Spirit is the Atlantic City airport’s largest carrier. Velevski had no money for a hotel.
