The Oberoi, one of the three luxury hotels in Mumbai which was stormed by militants nearly 17 months ago terror attacks will throw open its doors to the public on Saturday.
Oberoi hotel that was badly damaged during the attacks and lost around 35 people, including 10 of its staff, has since undergone massive restoration and renovation.
Reports that, every visible trace of the bloodbath has been wiped clean. The hotel has been completely transformed to offer the highest standards of facilities. The transformation has been undertaken in-house under the keen eye and direction of the hotel’s chairman P.R.S. Oberoi. New and strengthened security strategies have been added to the hotel.
The hotel will now offer contemporary, luxurious ambiance with a touch of Indian charm. Some of its familiar restaurant names-such as Kandahar, Tiffin and The Bayview bar-have been consigned to memory. Tiffin, which is an extension of the lobby and was directly in the line of fire, has been resurrected in its new avatar as Fenix. Similarly, Kandahar that specialises in Indian cuisine is now Ziya, while the bar has been christened as Eau, the French word for water.
Revellers and diners have already reserved tables at the hotel’s various outlets including the Italian restaurant Vetro on the opening night to express their solidarity.
