United Airlines Flight 9902 is taking a full load of water, supplies, and relief workers to Haiti Wednesday.
The flight is expected to land before noon central standard time.
Over the next month, United plans to send 30 flights to Port-au-Prince to support earthquake victims and disaster relief agencies.
Today’s flight is carrying water that was donated by Walgreen’s, over 300 tents donated by Feed the Children, and communications equipment from Airline Ambassadors. About 60 relief workers are also on board.
One group called Edge Outreach plans to install six water purification systems.The group says clean water could be available for 20,000 people later today.
Permitting there are no visa problems or other red tape, the United flights may return to the U.S. with some orphans.
The children will be from a Haitian orphanage that is actually run by two women in Pittsburgh.
