Two Southwest Airlines jetliners were struck by lightning today as they approached Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California, for landing.
The first, a flight from Oakland, had 81 passengers on board.
The second arrived about 20 minutes later from Sacramento with 69 aboard.
Southwest says there was one injury, a flight attendant on the Oakland flight who complained of pain in her arm and was hospitalized.
Both aircraft were taken out of service for inspection.
A series of Pacific storms has been washing over California this week causing flooding, heavy snow, massive waves and thunderstorms. The storm activity is expected to continue through Saturday.
