The German pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit has called on Lufthansa pilots to participate in a four-day walkout from February 22-25, 2010.
Lufthansa has urged the pilots’ union to return to the negotiating table in order to work out a constructive solution to the dispute in the interest of the company and its customers.
Passengers booked on a Lufthansa flight in the period from February 22-25, 2010 can rebook once free of charge to another Lufthansa flight, if they want to change their travel plans – provided their ticket was issued before February 18, 2010. The new travel date is before March 31, 2010 and no change can be made in their departure and arrival destination. Indian customers can call the airline’s toll-free telephone number in India to obtain information about their flight bookings.
While passengers travelling within Germany can switch to a rail journey with Deutsche Bahn, if their domestic flights have to be cancelled. For that purpose, customers can exchange their electronic ticket for a rail travel voucher at a Lufthansa automatic check-in terminal.
Alternatively, customers can buy a train ticket for the route for which their flight ticket was valid. This train ticket can then be submitted along with the flight ticket to Lufthansa for a refund.
