The General Civil Aviation Authority said that, a hot air balloon carrying 14 people crashed in a desert area east of Abu Dhabi on Sunday, killing a Frenchman and an Indian national.
Two other people were injured, one seriously, in the early morning crash near Sweihan, some 80 kilometres east of the United Arab Emirates capital.
The General Civil Aviation Authority, however, did not disclose their identity.
It said an investigation team was already at the accident site and had begun its initial probe.
The balloon was operated by Balloon Adventures Emirates, said the sightseeing company’s director, Peter Kollar.
He said passengers were taken to the hospital in Al Ain, a nearby oasis city on the border with Oman.
