The emirate of Abu Dhabi has bolstered its stature as a leading global tourism destination for businessmen and investors, stressed H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative to the Western Region (Gharbia).
“The emirate enjoys unique luxury attractions and eclectic spread of choices that meets the demands of global travelers. Besides the sea fronts, sun, sand and luxurious choices, Abu Dhabi offers a diverse water sports, leisure, cultural and heritage environment to its visitors,” Sheikh Hamdan in statements as he toured the 19th edition of the Monaco Yachts show (Monaco Yachts Show 2009) which ran from September 23rd to September 26th.
He said the choice of Abu Dhabi in expedia.co.uk’s Top 10 places to visit in 2008 is a reiteration of the growing stature earned by the emirate in the global tourism industry. This choice also highlights the Abu Dhabi’s concerted efforts to showcase itself to global travelers and further develop the tourism luxurious offerings in the emirate through a carefully structured strategy.
Held under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco, MYS brings together professionals from the international luxury yachting sector; ship-builders and designers, equipment suppliers, brokers and service providers. The MYS is renowned throughout the sector for being the only yacht show exclusively devoted to Superyachts of at least 25 meters in length.
Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on MYS which brings more than 500 companies working in luxury yachting and its satellite activities showed off their latest creations, their innovations and 100 of the world’s loveliest yachts, at the event. Close on 30,000 participants – private clients, professional visitors, exhibitors, journalists and other media professionals – traveled from every continent to the show at Port Hercules, Monaco.
He further hailed Abu Dhabi’s yachts industry which he said was set to play a significant regional role in boosting Superyachts manufacturing.
For his part, Prince Albert expressed his desire to visit Abu Dhabi and the 2nd edition of Abu Dhabi Yachts Show scheduled nest year. He expressed admiration at the emirate’s approach to promoting itself as a global tourism destination through the yachts industry.
