The huge strike in Greece as a protest to the country’s planned spending cuts has turned violent after police clash with protesters.

The thousands of people who gathered in front of the parliament chanted for MP’s and parliamentarians to come out while one man was even heard shouting out of a tannoy “we must rise against the IMF JUNTA”.

The huge strike carried out by public sector workers include, air traffic controllers which has grounded all flight too and from the country, doctors, the ambulance service, The Federation of Civil Aviation, engineers, journalists and Railway workers.

The public transport service has also been effected with strikes from 10am to 4 pm during the day so that protesters who are supporting the strike can attend demonstrations.

The strike literally paralysed the country with workers of so many important sectors, all going on strike at the same time.

The strike has been put on after the Greek government announced drastic spending cuts as a measure for the loan the country will be getting from the European Union and International Monetary Fund (IMF)which was decided on before the loan was approved.

The proposed cuts by the Greek government is a condition for the loan the country will receive from the EU and the IMF and is trying to cut 30 billion euros ($38 Billion) from their spending money.
