Environmental Education in Santiago de Cuba BaySeveral environmental education actions are implemented today in this eastern city, striving to reduce its pollution levels and restore vitality to the marine life.

According to Prensa Latina,Surmaily La Llave, an expert of the Eastern Center of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (Bioeco), told  the work undertaken in the neighborhoods of Los Cangrejitos and Barracones, located on that coast.

The environmental assessment is one of the results of that effort, La Llave said, with approaches to the physical-geographical characteristics of that environment, referred to geology, climate, hydrography, geomorphology, soils, and vegetation.

With a total population of more than 2,000 inhabitants, both districts in this historic urban center have their respective managing groups, composed of prestigious neighbors with more than one decade of living in the place, the expert said.
