Bust of Hugo Chavez in Cuban MountainA bust of the late President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez was placed by a group of climbers in the Pico Caracas, one of the highest elevations of Cuba.

Among them was René González, who paid tribute to Chavez at that summit of the Sierra Maestra.

According to Prensa Latina,Gonzalez along with Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez is part of the group The Five, internationally known those who were convicted in the United States for monitoring the activities of violent anti-Cuban groups based in Miami.

Farmers in the area traveled long distances to greet the climbers, in particular René, whose release and that of his colleagues, still imprisoned in the United States, has been a claim in Cuba and many parts of the world.

“Those wishing homeland come with me”, reads the front of the 2 meter tall pedestal with the bust of Chavez, local media reported.

The sculpture, modeled with resin and fiberglass, is the work of artist Andres Gonzalez and it was placed next to a bust of Simon Bolivar, by the same sculptor, 1.234 meters above the sea level.
