A pair of incidents on board flights Sunday prompted authorities to question passengers about suspicious behavior.
One involved a Nigerian businessman traveling on a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. The flight crew made an emergency call to authorities after the man refused to come out of the bathroom as the plane prepared to land.
The FBI says it turned out the man had been ill.
The second incident happened on a flight headed for Phoenix. Passengers aboard a U.S. Airways Flight from Orlando, Fla., reported that two men, described as Middle Eastern, were acting strangely and talking loudly to each other in a foreign language.
A nearby passenger said one of the men was watching what appeared to be footage of a suicide bombing. But that turned out to be a scene from the movie “The Kingdom.” The man also got up from his seat while the seat belt warning sign was still lit.
The flight crew called law enforcement. A search of the plane and passengers’ luggage turned up nothing and the men were allowed to continue on to California.
