Argentina President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner Visits Turkey / Tourism News
Argentinean President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner on Thursday met his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul at the start of an official visit to Turkey.
Kirchner, who arrived in Turkey late on Wednesday at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, was welcomed with a formal ceremony at the Cankaya Presidential Palace in Ankara.
The two leaders held a tete-a-tete meeting, and then co-chaired meetings between delegations. A joint press conference is also scheduled following the meetings.
During her visit, Kirchner will also meet Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and several agreements will be signed between the two countries.
Kirchner, who succeeded his husband Nestor Kirchner as the head of state in Dec. 2007, is the first Argentinean president to visit Turkey in 19 years.
