The Sixth International Bosphorus Film Festival began Friday in Istanbul with nearly 90 films competing.<\/h2>\n

The festival is organized with the support of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry and General Directorate of Cinema. Anadolu Agency is its global communications partner.<\/p>\n

The event kicked off with ‘The Old Man and The Gun’ — a 2018 American crime comedy written and directed by American filmmaker David Lowery.<\/p>\n

The festival, which runs through Nov. 3, will host 88 films from 41 countries and the winners will receive at least 400,000 Turkish liras ($71,500) in prize money.<\/p>\n

Participants will be awarded in the categories of national feature film, international feature film and short film.<\/p>\n

The festival is hosting Leila Hatami and Payman Maadi, two of the most distinguished actors of Iranian cinema.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa, Portuguese film producer Paulo Branco and Bent Hamer, a film director, writer and producer from Norway, are also among the participants.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
