{"id":3910,"date":"2011-05-23T18:02:11","date_gmt":"2011-05-23T15:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/?p=3910"},"modified":"2022-09-28T13:44:00","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T12:44:00","slug":"koh-phangan-tourism-826","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/koh-phangan-tourism-826\/","title":{"rendered":"Koh Phangan tourism to expand 20% this year"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/koh-phangan-tourists.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3911\" title=\"Koh Phangan tourism to expand 20% this year \" src=\"http:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/koh-phangan-tourists-340x203.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/koh-phangan-tourists-340x203.jpg 340w, https:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/koh-phangan-tourists.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 340px) 100vw, 340px\" \/><\/a><\/h1>\n<h1>Koh Phangan expects to earn Bt4 billion from the tourism industry this year, 20 percent more than the Bt3.5 billion it earned last year.<\/h1>\n<p>Ms. Wannee Thaipanit, the chief of Koh Phangan Tourism Association, said the continued expansion of the island\u2019s tourism industry has been attracting more local and foreign investors.<\/p>\n<p>She also revealed that the island\u2019s new royal boat museum has been drawing more visitors to the island.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Wannee said that since the start of the year, the number of people visiting Koh Phangan had been on the rise, \u201can encouraging sign the island\u2019s is well on its way to economic recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like the rest of the country, the island\u2019s tourism had been badly affected since the global economic slowdown in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore and more Australians are visiting  Phangan these days, along with British , Scandinavian and German tourists,\u201d she said. \u201cWe predict that the island would generate Bt4 billion from the tourism industry this year or an increase of 15-20 percent from last year, which was about Bt3.5 billion,\u201d Ms. Wannee added.<\/p>\n<p>Tourists, she said, are visiting Koh Phangan not just for its famous Full Moon Party but also for its many other island attractions. The island, according to her, has also a number of historical  attractions.<\/p>\n<p>Phanu Woramit,  director of the Suratthani office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said Koh Phangan\u2019s tourism has been showing signs of recovery since late last year. He said not just European tourists are visiting the island.
