{"id":2179,"date":"2010-01-06T10:22:26","date_gmt":"2010-01-06T08:22:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/?p=2179"},"modified":"2022-09-28T20:57:52","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T19:57:52","slug":"cuba-protests-us-airline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/cuba-protests-us-airline\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba protests US airline screening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Cuba has lodged a protest with the top US diplomat on the island over extra screening for Cuban citizens flying into the US, calling the rule a &#8220;hostile action&#8221; meant to justify America&#8217;s trade embargo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/cuban-protests.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2180\" title=\"Cuba protests US airline screening\" src=\"http:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/cuban-protests-280x220.jpg\" alt=\"Cuba protests US airline screening\" width=\"280\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a>The new dispute comes after several setbacks that have all but snuffed out hope for a quick resolution to the half-century of antagonism between Cuba and the United States, and as Cuban officials have been increasingly sharp-spoken about their disappointment in President Barack Obama.<\/p>\n<p>Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, director of the Cuban Foreign Ministry&#8217;s North American affairs office, said the new security controls were &#8220;discriminatory and selective.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We categorically reject this new hostile action by the government of the US against Cuba,&#8221; she told The Associated Press in an exclusive interview.<\/p>\n<p>Vidal Ferreiro said she lodged the protest in a meeting with Jonathan Farrar, the head of the US Interest Section, which Washington maintains in Cuba instead of an embassy.
