{"id":2120,"date":"2009-12-28T18:41:10","date_gmt":"2009-12-28T16:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/?p=2120"},"modified":"2009-12-28T18:41:36","modified_gmt":"2009-12-28T16:41:36","slug":"new-phuket-flyover-under-consideration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/new-phuket-flyover-under-consideration\/","title":{"rendered":"New Phuket flyover under consideration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/new-phuket-flyover.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2121\" title=\"New Phuket flyover under consideration\" src=\"http:\/\/www.turizmtatilseyahat.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/new-phuket-flyover-280x220.jpg\" alt=\"New Phuket flyover under consideration\" width=\"280\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a>The Highways Department is studying the possibility of building a flyover or tunnel to relieve traffic congestion at the Darasamuth School Intersection near Central Festival Phuket.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first in a series of five planned public hearings on the issue took place at The Metropole Hotel on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The Highways Department has included the project in its 10-year development plan from 2007 to 2016.<\/p>\n<p>First phase work on the project\u2019s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is already underway by project consultants Thai Engineering Consultants (TEC) Company Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the EIA process, four more public hearings must take place by the end of June, 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Attending Thursday\u2019s hearing were government officers, local businesspeople and residents.<\/p>\n<p>Khasame Srivaranun, who heads the Phuket Highways Department survey, construction and planning division, said the first meeting was simply to introduce the project to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Four alternative structural plans for a flyover or tunnel are under consideration, he said.<\/p>\n<p>His agency has been informed that land expropriation \u2018was not an option\u2019 in the area, which has some of the highest land prices on the island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are studying all engineering, environment and funding aspects and we will listen to all public comments.
