Turkish tour operator goes bankrupt

turkish tour operatorKarya Tour, the biggest Turkish tour operator in Hungary, declared bankruptcy.

The bankruptcy has negatively affected over 500 Hungarian tourists currently in and around the Meditteranean city of Antalya.

Karya Tour entered the Hungarian tourism market three years ago, in short time becoming the Turkish company that brings most Hungarian tourists to Turkey. Karya was chartering three planes per week from Budapest to the Turkish tourism hub of Antalya.

Karya had a pledge of 317 million forints ($1.5 million) at a tourism insurance company and the money will be used to return hundreds of tourists currently in Antalya to their homes, Anatolia reported.

According to its website, Karya also has affiliates in Ukraine, Slovakia and Slovenia, and representative offices in Poland, Belarus, Moldova, Serbia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
