Flourishing village in Kazakhstan

kazakhstan flowersResidents of the Nagi Ilyasov village in the Syrdarya district in the Kyzylorda region have proved that it is possible to grow such beautiful flowers as roses, petunias and Cannas in their arid region.

There is rather an unfavourable environment for landscape gardening here. However, local flower growers applied a lot of effort in order to grow these decorative flowers.

The Nagi Ilyasov village is now very pleasant on the eye. The central streets are planted with trees and shrubs, water is churning in adjusted irrigation channels and the houses have well-groomed front gardens. The presidential request for social responsibility of businesses is being implemented in the village. Local entrepreneurs helped repair a local hospital, built a bathhouse and a shopping centre and decorated the village with a fountain. Flower growers planted three thousand shrubs of Canna lilies of various types around it.

Feruza Nazarova, flower grower:
– The soil is chiefly salty here. However, the types of flowers we planted here are all low-maintenance and grow well. Cannas should be one metre tall and they grew tall here so it means that the soil is alright now.

Mariyamgul Tautenova, village resident:
– This has become the villagers’ favourite leisure area. This place is crowded day and night here.

The local residents are mostly proud of the fact that people from neighbouring villages come here to see the flourishing village and adopt their practices.

Kulyash Kudabayeva, recreation centre director:
– We have things to show and be proud of. And we also say that it is necessary to work hard to achieve this and, most importantly, love your home village and wish to see it become better and more beautiful.
