Dubai Tourism celebrates 10th anniversary of BestCities Global Alliance

The Dubai Convention Bureau of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) celebrated the 10th anniversary of BestCities.net, the first global alliance of convention bureaus, at IMEX 2010 that was held in Frankfurt, Germany last month.

DTCM was represented by Walid Marhoon and Abdullah Yousef, senior sales executives at Dubai Convention Bureau.

Jane Holmes, Managing Director of the BestCities Global Alliance, oversaw the anniversary celebrations, which was attended by all the eight alliance member cities – Cape Town (South Africa), Copenhagen (Denmark), Edinburgh (Scotland), Melbourne (Australia), San Juan (Puerto Rico), Singapore, Vancouver (Canada) and Dubai.

Dubai joined the BestCities Global Alliance in February 2003, which reaffirmed its globally recognised status as an ideal conference and meetings destination as membership to the BestCities Global Alliance is obtained only after the Alliance is convinced that the city can offer all the services, facilities and infrastructure required to host major conferences and meetings.

The BestCities Global Alliance was established in 1999 in Copenhagen with the aim to cooperate in the field of conference tourism, and provide world-class services and facilities in this area.
