China's tourism revenue up 9% in 2009According to a report from the National Tourism Administration, the tourism industry in China maintained steady growth in 2009, hopefully realizing a 9 percent increase in annual revenue.

The report says the annual tourism income approximately totaled 1.26 trillion yuan, an annual increase of 9 percent. In 2009, the domestic tourism market saw rapid growth; market for inbound tourism recovered gradually; and market for outbound tourism developed smoothly. Meanwhile, large-scale investment in the tourism industry and huge profits generated by tourism-related industries last year further boosted social and economic development.

Last year, domestic tourism market received a total of 1.9 billion domestic tourists, a rapid year-on-year growth of 11 percent. The domestic tourism revenue is expected to reach one trillion yuan, up 15 percent. Generally speaking, the inbound tourism market remained rather low, but it gradually recovered thanks to the favorable conditions.
