cannes film festivalCannes Film Festival opens…The Cannes Festival opened on the French Blue Coast beach resort on Wednesday, where movie stars, filmmakers and producers from all over the world will meet until May 27.

The 65th Cannes Festival will pay tribute to U.S. actress Marilyn Monroe on the 50th anniversary of her death.

The comedy film Moonrise Kingdom by U.S. Wes Anderson will open the festival. The cast includes actors Bruce Willis, Edward Norton and Bill Murray, among others.

A total of 22 films will compete for the Golden Palm Award, including Cosmopolis by Canadian David Cronemberg; Amour by German Michael Haneke; You Have Seen Nothing Yet by French Alain Resnais, and The Angels Share by British Ken Loach.

Latin America will be represented at the Cannes Festival by the Mexican film Post Tenebras Lux by Carlos Reygadas, and Brazilian film On the Way by Walter Salles.
