What are the rules for entering the Netherlands?

Since March 3, 2022, people aged twelve and over must be able to show proof of vaccination, convalescence or a test when entering Germany. Anyone who is not fully vaccinated or has recovered must have a negative corona test (PCR test or antigen test no more than 48 hours old). However, the Netherlands (like all other countries) is not currently classified as a high-risk area.

What should I do if I have corona symptoms or have had contact with infected people?

Those who have tested positive no longer have to go into quarantine in the Netherlands. In this case, the government recommends staying at home, but it is no longer mandatory for those infected. In case of typical symptoms of Covid-19 or contact with infected people, it is possible to contact the Dutch Health Service GGD on telephone number +318001202. Whether you go into quarantine is neither tracked nor checked.

What rules have applied in everyday life in the Netherlands so far?

A large number of the corona rules in the Netherlands were already lifted on February 25th. However, masks were still compulsory on public transport and at the airport. In addition, access to indoor events with more than 500 participants was only possible with a negative test result.

Now it is no longer necessary to wear a mask anywhere in the Netherlands, and it is also possible to visit major events without prior testing. The same has been true for places such as restaurants, nightclubs and museums since the end of February.

Hotels, holiday parks and campsites are also open as normal. Travelers should be asked in advance whether distance and hygiene rules will continue to be implemented there.
