Air India Strike Enters 5th Day

air india strikeAs Air India pilots strike entered its fifth day, passengers remained stranded at Mumbai airport.

“I will never buy ticket of an Air India flight. The other airlines also are just cashing on due to this. I have to pay 7,500 rupees extra to buy the ticket for Indigo airlines,” a stranded passenger said.

Demanding parity in their salaries, more than 650 members of the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) called for strike on Tuesday, April 26. They demand a probe into the functioning of AI management.

Another stranded passenger said she had booked the tickets one and a half month ago and had planned a vacation.

“Due to this strike, I don’t know whether I will be able to go or not. These people here are also not helping us and not accommodating us in other airlines. The fares for other airlines have gone up to Rs 25,000 due to this strike, which is not affordable,” she added.

On Saturday, Indian Railways got into the rescue act with special bail-out trains for the stranded air passengers.
