Air France urges pilot safety

Air FranceAir France has called on pilots to be more vigilant when in the air following the crash of flight AF 447 into the Atlantic earlier this year.

A potentially damaging leaked internal memo – entitled Enough Scandals and False Debates about Flight Security! – was obtained by the Associated Press earlier this week, revealing the French flag-carriers thoughts on pilot behaviour.

The memo appears to imply human error may have played a role in the loss of the aircraft, with pilots urged to closely adhere to existing safety procures. Air France rejects the needs for changes at the airline, saying: “It suffices simply to apply our doctrine, our procedures.”

The loss of Air France Flight AF 447 remains a mystery following the loss of 228 lives in June this year.

The leaked memo warns against “overconfidence” among pilots, suggesting some think and safety measures are overkill.

The memo appears to be in response to a threat of strike action from a minority of pilots who have been calling for changes to safety procedures at the airline.
